Game rules
How a listing works, from the first number to the prize. These rules are what the game does today; the binding version comes with the final terms.
The lowest number nobody shares wins
Every player picks numbers in secret. At the close, every number picked by two or more players drops out. The lowest number picked by exactly one player wins.
That player pays their number in Birr for the prize. A player can pick a number only once on the same listing.
Numbers, down to the santim
A number is an amount in Birr with at most 2 decimal places, like 7.25. The smallest is 0.01.
Each listing sets its own range (for example 0.01 to 500), its fee, its minimum number of bids, its close time, and how many numbers one player may pick.
The fee
Each number costs that listing's fee, taken from your balance when you pick it.
Fees are never refunded, in any outcome: not when a listing has no winner, and not when a listing is extended.
Sealed until the close
Before the close, you see only your own numbers and the totals: how many players and how many numbers. Nobody sees anyone else's numbers.
The close
The server's clock decides. A number received at or after the close time is refused, and no fee is taken.
Extended once, never cancelled
If a listing reaches its close with fewer numbers than its minimum, it is not closed. It gets 24 more hours, once, and bidding stays open.
At the extended close it closes whatever the count.
No winner
If no number was picked exactly once, nobody wins, and fees aren't returned.
If nobody picked a number at all, nobody wins and nothing was collected.
Paying for the prize: 48 hours
The winner has 48 hours from the close to pay their number from their balance.
If they don't, the prize is offered to the next lowest number picked exactly once, also for 48 hours, and so on down the line.
Passing leaves the line
A player offered the prize may pass, and the offer moves on straight away.
A player who passes, or lets their 48 hours run out, leaves the line with all of their numbers. The offer goes to the next number held by someone else.
When the line runs out
If nobody in the line pays, nobody receives the prize, and fees aren't refunded.
Every number is published
After the close, every number picked and how many times it was picked are published on the results page, with no names, ids or balances.
Anyone can check the winner: it is the lowest number with a count of 1.
A payment that arrives late
A winner's payment that arrives after their 48 hours is added to their balance as normal money. The offer isn't given back.
Withdrawing your balance
You can withdraw balance you haven't spent: top-ups, late prize payments, and money added after a review. Fees are never returned, and winning a prize adds no cash.
A withdrawal goes straight to an account that has paid into your wallet before. Any other account is checked by a person first, once; after that it is remembered.
Draft prepared for review. Nothing on this page is a commitment.
